Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Crock-Pot 3850-W 5-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker, WhiteCustomer Review: Excellent slow cooker Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased The Rival 3850-W 5 quart Programmable Crock Pot Slow Cooker and have nothing but praise for it. It produces excellent results every time and so easy to use and clean. Just remove the inner stoneware liner and wash in the sink with a little dish detergent and water or put in the dishwasher. The settings on this slow cooker are 4 or 6 hours on HIGH and 8 or 10 hours on LOW. That's more than enough settings to cook almost anything. It also switches to the keep warm mode automatically when the cooking time has elapsed (very welcome feature in case you can't get home in time to turn the unit off). It will remain on the keep warm setting for up to 4 hours. If you need to call customer service for any reason you can find the toll-free number as well as more information about Rival products on their website at www.rivalproducts.com The customer service is available during normal business hours Monday through Friday. Thanks to Rival, now I have more choices for the amount of time that I want to cook our meals instead of just "HI" or "LOW" like is found on other brands of slow cookers. Great job Rival!
Description of Crock-Pot 3850-W 5-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker, White"The 5-quart, round Crock-Pot is large enough to cook four to six chicken breasts with vegetables or enough chili or soup for four to five people. The easy-to-use programmable timer turns on and off with the push of a button and lets you choose among time settings of 4, 6, 8, and 10 hours. When cooking time is complete, the Crock-Pot automatically shifts into warming mode, which keeps food at the right eating temperature but doesn t overcook it. The exterior of this Crock-Pot is white plastic that wipes down easily and matches the d cor of most kitchens. Plastic handles provide a secure and comfortable grip for transporting the cooker. The Crock-Pot s internal liner is made of durable stoneware that is attractive enough to go from cooker to tabletop to serve your meal. The liner also has a stick-resistant coating and is dishwasher-safe to make clean-up easy. The glass lid lets you peek at your food while it cooks and is also dishwasher safe." Pot roast, jambalaya, chili, chicken, bean soup--dishes like these only achieve full flavor by slow cooking, which is one of the reasons crockpots achieved popularity in the 1970s. Another reason was convenience: ingredients could be placed in a crockpot in the morning and a meal would be finished by dinnertime. The only drawback was someone had to be on hand when cooking finished. But this crockpot solves that problem. It's programmable for both temperature and time and automatically turns to a "warm" function when the selected cooking time elapses. A touchpad makes programming easy, and the instruction booklet includes 17 recipes for old favorites that illustrate the crockpot's versatility. The pot's 5-quart stoneware cooking dish is thick and heavy, perfect for removing by its handles and carrying to the table. It's safe in the dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and oven and cleans easily. --Fred Brack
